Lunch in Lindau
Our day started early as we needed to catch the 7:55 am cable car off the mountain. While we loved Switzerland, no one wanted to be left behind! On this day we traveled through several little parts of countries (including Lichtenstein and Austria) as we headed into Bavaria.
Our lunch stop was in Lindau, a cute town on the water. Tara showed us several sites in town, and then we had free time for lunch before heading into Munich. We warmed up with hot chocolate and sandwiches before wandering our way back through town towards the bus.

Munich
New Town Hall
We arrived in Munich by late afternoon. Our hotel was perfectly located right next to the market square, the Viktualienmarkt. Tara introduced us to Bavaria by having our group dinner at a classic beer hall. With our stomachs full of beer, pretzels, and apple strudel we strolled our way back to the hotel.
The next morning, we were off to learn about Munich's long history with Kathleen our local guide. We strolled around Munich for much of the morning, until Kathleen joined us on our bus, to give us a driving tour as well. Of course, Tara had waved her wand, and presented us with huge chewy pretzels to enjoy as we drove around town. Our driving tour ended at the art museum.

Alte Pinakothek Art Museum
Kathleen educated us in the finer details of the museum's collection. We learned what classic symbols to look for as we compared different artists and time periods. But none of this captured Rebecca's interest until a group of paintings. Several in our group noticed, the children in the portrait looked like they could be Rebecca's relatives. Perhaps we are part of German royalty as it looked like Rebecca had stepped out of this painting of fair-skinned redheads.
After spending most of the day doing "grown-up" things, we decided to take Rebecca to the market square to sample some of Munich's finest chocolate ice cream, wander through the book store, and watch the Glockenspiel before meeting some of the group to go the Hofbrauhaus for dinner.
